Abstract
The data presented in this paper shows the effectiveness of pyrazine adipate against 26 Ascariasis, 30 Ancylostomiasis. 47 Trichocephaliasis, and Clonorchiiass. The doses and schedules were applied to different groups as follows:
Group a. Adults, 2-3gm per day, for 7days.
Group b. Adults, same doses as above for 4days.
Group c. Children, 100mg per kg of body weight for 3days.
Group d. Children, 50mg per kg of body weight for 3days.
The results obtained are summarized as follows:
1. The results of comparisons of the various dosages against Ascariasis showed that the most effective dose was 2-3gm daily for 2 consecutive days for adults and 50-100mg for 2 consecutive days for children.
2. The antihelmintic activities of the drug for the Ancylostomiasis, Trichocephaliasis, and Clonorchiasis, showed some slight effectiveness but the results were not sufficient for making a definite conclusion. The authors point out that before and after the experiment a sufficient number of daily stool examination must be made in order to assess individual variation, otherwise the arbitrar selection of two points of a. fluctuation count may lead to false conclusions.
3. Untoward reaction to the drug was minimal.
